The feedback I am receiving from the students is very strong. They really enjoyed the online environment, managing their "IM's", making real-time decisions, and following through on their instincts to see what might happen without fear of 'doing something wrong' that in the real world, might really negatively impact them. They also really appreciated the 'trust' - the idea that we (school) are trying to prepare them for real-world experiences (and not 'sheltering' them from all the 'bad stuff' - if that makes sense). From my end, I am also very pleased. The content is strong, relevant and fun. From a teacher perspective, I liked the 'quiz' and the 'blog' components - especially getting the 'score' email for each student delivered right to me (makes for easier assessment).

I reviewed Chapter 1 (both the walkthrough & the tutorial) - and really liked it. I must confess that there were issues & considerations raised that highlighted my own need to learn more (eg: how to learn which sites to trust, how to verify, etc). So I think it is a very good resource that would be great to be able to provide to beginning teachers to heighten their digital literacy.

MyWorld is a resource that matches a number of our NWT outcomes for ICT supported learning. Our students require opportunities to learn ethical and responsible use of ICT in an engaging manner that reflects the actual digital culture they encounter outside the school. This will always include curating the useful from the irrelevant, the credible from the misleading, the public from the private, the informative from the commercial, and the honourable from the disrespectful. Through the youthful and authentic voices in the MyWorld tutorials, students can learn to work intelligently and gain positive control of their online experiences.

My students thought it was great – so did I! They were really into all the aspects of the site and got the hang of it really quickly. It lent itself to great classroom discussions before and after using it. They were disappointed that only Chapter 1 was available to preview.

My Learning Strategies Students loved it. They found it very interactive and it asked high level questions and delves deep into the subject of media and internet literacy. Very cool graphics and navigation. I love the emailed report card. It makes evaluation easy.
